Doula

A birth Doula is someone who provides physical, emotional and informational support before, during and just after childbirth. It is scientifically proven that Doula supported mothers have decreased length of labor, decreased medical interventions and increased maternal satisfaction.A birth Doula usually meets the mother and her partner a few times prior to the estimated date due (EDD) to develop a rapport, find out what the wishes of the parents are, and practice some relaxation techniques. The role of a birthing doula may vary greatly from standing in the shadows whispering suggestions to the partner to being right next to the mother providing encouragement. It is our goal to recognize the different stages of labor and provide support accordingly.

A postpartum Doula's role changes daily as the needs of the family change. This may include meal preparation, light house keeping, and child care. The goal of a postpartum doula is to nurture the parents in their new role, share information about baby care, aid sibling with the new arrival, and encouraging family members to support the mother and work as a single unit.
